Predictions For 2014: finish Of the world, World conflict 3, US economic collapse

Predictions For 2014: End Of The World, World War 3, US Economic Collapse

Predictions for 2014 are actually beautiful gloomy. Some are predicting World battle 3, others think that 2014 will mark the tip of the world, and, perhaps the most likely, a US economic fall down.

As in the past mentioned by The Inquisitr, political predictions for 2014 claim Sarah Palin and the Republicans will upward push in popularity, which some progressives may believe the end of the arena.

You’d think that since the Mayan end of the world situation didn’t pan out that folks would calm down. smartly, you’d be wrong. the top of the world predictions for 2014 are additionally not with the aid of Nostradamus, despite the fact that people seem to assume he’s envisioned the top of the world just about annually. Some folks have used this part written by using Nostradamus to tie Pope Francis and Comet ISON together:

there will seem against the North
not a long way from cancer the bearded big name:
Susa, Siena, Boeotia, Eretria,
the good considered one of Rome will die, the night time over.

Some say the primary line is North Korea, which at least sounds affordable for triggering World struggle 3. The bearded star is Comet ISON, which can or won’t hit the sun. The “nice one in all Rome” may be the Catholic Pope.

apparently enough, Pope Francis does have an end of the arena prophecy associated to him. Saint Malachy is said to have expected Francis stands out as the ultimate pope and he’d by some means earn the title Peter the Roman, or Petrus Romanus.

however it sounds as if the Vikings’ predictions for 2014 incorporated Ragnarok, which is their version of Armageddon. consultants have calculated that the Viking finish of the world should happen on February 22, 2014, which doesn’t supply so much time for film makers to complete Thor 3: Ragnarok ahead of Odin is killed by Fenrir. Supposedly the wolf god named Skoll will devour the solar, and his brother Hai will feast on the moon, so in this case World warfare three is fought with quite a bit and a number of flashlights.

Ragnarok Vikings

unfortunately, some political prediction for 2014 are usually not so humorous. Some pundits consider that President Obama’s muddling within the heart East may lead to nuclear weapons proliferation and terrorists in fact getting hold of WMDs, which may trigger World struggle three. despite the united states stock markets doing relatively neatly in the interim, some monetary specialists have made economic predictions for 2014 that claim a inventory market crash in January is that you can think of. additional, the out of keep an eye on US debt will cause the usa buck to be removed as the reserve foreign money and set off an financial cave in:

“The crucial issue is self belief in america, and the arena is losing self belief fast. At a undeniable level, quickly, the us will attain a stage of deficit spending and debt at which the nations of the arena will lose faith in the us and begin to withdraw their investments. Many best economists and bankers suppose another trillion dollars or so may do it. A run on the bank will begin abruptly, construct quickly and snowball.”

despite the fact that WW3 and the US economic fall down isn’t an correct prediction for 2014, the US Social security Administration has admitted Social security incapacity money will run out in 2016… or .

in terms of economic or political predictions for 2014, what do you consider possibly? Or do you prefer World struggle three and Ragnarok?

seeing as pope Francis was an avid public transport user and has condemened the inequalities that exist today because of the love of money, should he speak out against the obscene rail fares uk passengers have to face on their journeys, will the uk government do something about it? for fear of offending God.

Like famous popular like Nelson Mandela, Pope Francis, malala youseffi, oprah and Obama. I know those are all good people but whenever I only hear good about someone I question it. Like nelson mandela was on the terrorist watch list until 2008 and now im just supposed to believe hes the greatest man ever. Come on that’s hypocritical. I like mandela but if I lived 20 years ago id only hear bad about him. do you get tired of hearing someone is so great all the time. Like I was so excited about hillary running in 2012 hoping she will run in 2016 but I heard so much positive of her I just dont like her anymore.

  3. Echo says:

It’s time to watch jeopardy and ABC has spent the last 15 minutes saying the same things over and over. There’s a new Pope, his name is Pope Francis I, and he hates gays and abortion.

That’s cool and all, but Alex Trebek needs me to watch Jeopardy. This is one episode of Jeopardy that I will never have the chance to watch. Imagine all the knowledge I could have gained in the last 15 minutes if I had been answering trivia questions instead of listening to Diane Sawyer ramble on about some old bro from Argentina.

So why ABC? Why are you doing this to me George Stephanapopopopolis?
Okay, it’s a historic moment. But it’s a historic moment that I can grasp with a one sentence caption at the bottom of the screen.
20% of Americans are Catholics? Can I assume then, that 80% of Americans don’t care?

  4. TommyKay says:

So recently I saw the article on yahoo about Pope Francis saying priests should buy “humble” cars. I want to get a humble car because I want to live simply. I don’t have a smartphone or any late technology and I just want to get a car in the range of $500-$3000. I am 17 by the way and I want to stay with this car the rest of my life just like Alfred Morris on the Redskins. Any ideas on a car I should get and do I have to fix it used?

  5. balinderk2000 says:

St Malachy prophesied that the 266th Pope would be the last Pope, overseeing the destruction of the Papacy and the Roman Catholic Church. The clue for that pope is “the second Peter.” Pope Francis is the 266th Pope. Thoughts?

  6. thinkthought says:

Look at the attitude of the new Pope – is this not worth commending?

Some excerpts from Pope Francis’ inaugural Mass:
“The vocation of being a “protector”, however, is not just something involving us Christians alone; it also has a prior dimension which is simply human, involving everyone. It means protecting all creation, the beauty of the created world, as the Book of Genesis tells us and as Saint Francis of Assisi showed us. It means respecting each of God’s creatures and respecting the environment in which we live. It means protecting people, showing loving concern for each and every person, especially children, the elderly, those in need, who are often the last we think about. It means caring for one another in our families: husbands and wives first protect one another, and then, as parents, they care for their children, and children themselves, in time, protect their parents. It means building sincere friendships in which we protect one another in trust, respect, and goodness. In the end, everything has been entrusted to our protection, and all of us are responsible for it. Be protectors of God’s gifts!
Whenever human beings fail to live up to this responsibility, whenever we fail to care for creation and for our brothers and sisters, the way is opened to destruction and hearts are hardened. Tragically, in every period of history there are “Herods” who plot death, wreak havoc, and mar the countenance of men and women.
Please, I would like to ask all those who have positions of responsibility in economic, political and social life, and all men and women of goodwill: let us be “protectors” of creation, protectors of God’s plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment. Let us not allow omens of destruction and death to accompany the advance of this world! But to be “protectors”, we also have to keep watch over ourselves! Let us not forget that hatred, envy and pride defile our lives! Being protectors, then, also means keeping watch over our emotions, over our hearts, because they are the seat of good and evil intentions: intentions that build up and tear down. We must not be afraid of goodness or even tenderness.”
@All: I think this question has attracted many non Muslims as I can see from the TD’s. I am not looking for a specific response as this is NOT a loaded question. I am glad that each of you has a chance to voice your opinions. I must however call your attention to the attitude laid out in the Quran that we must join with others in doing good and that Islam does not monopolize the truth. We also need to cover up the faults of others and not deny anyone the right to practice their faith, The Holy Prophet never called the Christians of Najran as Kaffirs and when he was approached by a group from St Catherines regarding safeguarding their rights, he issued an order to the Muslims that they cannot harm any Christian’s Church or symbols and if their church were to be attacked the Muslims must join in to defend it.
@ShahidD: Your’e welcome. Glad to be of assistance

  7. Mark says:

I’m not religious but I had to ask this question.

The actual, real Jesus condemned the rich repeatedly. Pope Francis doesn’t go quite as far, but he has called trickle down economics a scam, and certainly doesn’t see the 1% as benevolent deserving heroes the way today’s conservatives do. Pope Francis also, like Jesus, empathizes with the plight of the working poor.

Jesus never said a word about gay marriage, or abortion. Both were common concepts at the time. Pope Francis has also downplayed the importance of either of these issues to faith and said that religion shouldn’t revolve around either of these issues.

Are conservatives getting angry that the Pope is actually teaching a message similar to Jesus’s teachings, rather than ignoring Jesus’s teachings and parroting right wing talking points instead?
@Milo – You have presented absolutely no arguments to support your own point of view. Checkmate.

  8. Salam says:

Pope Francis, speaking at a Mass on Wednesday, referred to the building collapse in a sharp condemnation of worker exploitation and “slave labor.”

“Not paying a just (wage), not providing work, focusing exclusively on the balance books, on financial statements, only looking at making personal profit. That goes against God!” he said, quoted on the Vatican Radio website.

The collapse of the building has caused widespread anger among Bangladesh’s millions of garment workers about the risky conditions in which many of them must work.

  9. Thomas Lopez says:

I thought everything that happens in the conclave is a secret but I am hearing one of the leaks from 2005 was that the new Pope came close to being elected back in 2005 when Pope Benedict XVI was elected. How is this known or is it just nonsense being made up?

  10. Oilers says:

    3. To slake his ghastly undead vampire bride’s bloodlust (in which case, wouldn’t a trip to the most expensive hairdresser in town, and 600 pairs of shoes, be nicer for everyone?)

What do you think? And if Good Pope Francis is so opposed to war, shouldn’t he excommunicate the little turd?

I’m doing a PowerPoint about pope Francis and can’t find this price of information

  13. The Villain says:

Pope Francis is already popular with untold numbers of people for showing humility. He helped the poor with his own physical actions. When he was a cardinal, he rode a bus to work. He prays. Obama should get some humility. He is a spendthrift SOB.

  14. Michael says:

Interviewer: Do you have a boyfriend?
Interviewee: No, I don’t. I actually wanted to be a nun.
Interviewer: Really? What do you think about Pope Francis?
Interviewee: I think he is a good pope.
    Interviewer: I heard he’s tough.
Interviewee: That’s good to know. It would be easy for him to hold on to the church’s principles even when criticized by the government.
Interviewer: What do you think about the RH Bill?
Interviewee: I think it’s practical because overpopulation might lead to scarcity of resources.

It seems that the interviewee is lying about wanting to be a nun. Why do you think that is so? What could be her motive?
Can somebody please answer the question?

  15. Sonny says:

Scott Hahn’s take in FaceBook: Lots of people are criticizing Pope Francis’ teaching earlier this week, as if he’s deviating from the Church’s teaching on the need to proclaim the good news… Contrary to what you may read in the media, please notice, nowhere does he even suggest – much less teach – that avowed atheists are saved. Instead, what he actually says is so obviously true and open to a perfectly fair and benign reading:

    1. We shouldn’t be so critical of outsiders that we don’t allow ourselves to see or acknowledge whatever good they do, or truth they affirm (even atheists).

    2. Christ didn’t die to save only catholics/christians, but everybody (even atheists).

    3. Since all are redeemed by Christ – at least potentially – we should be looking for ways to build bridges with them in order to actualize that redemptive potential, by showing them that whatever truth and goodness they embrace comes from – and leads to – Christ.

  16. mr flibble says:

(CNN) Pope Francis responded to critics who call his stance on capitalism Marxist, saying in a new interview that the political and economic philosophy is flat “wrong.”

“Marxist ideology is wrong,” the Pope told the Italian newspaper La Stampa in an interview published on Saturday. “But I have met many Marxists in my life who are good people, so I don’t feel offended.”

  17. Alina Elliott says:

The Pope is now saying that atheists do not have to believe in God to go to heaven (we are already there). A few centuries ago the same denomination along with protestants would hunt down and slaughter anyone who did not follow their doctrine.

Perhaps it is time for the Pope and all religious people to confess and apologize!
David: It seems that a great many of the ancient Gnostics were atheists. The edict by Pope Innocent III in the thirteenth century caused millions of them to be murdered.
The Voice of Reason: Some were not given a choice but therein lies the biggest crime of the Church. Forcing people to adopt their view, having parents teach children something they knew were a lie putting the fear of death in their children so they would survive never questioning the faith.
To this very day we have the same zombies exclaiming the nonsense they must have been taught by their mothers centuries ago.

  18. Gage says:

Can you give me a list of guests who will be attending the Papal Inauguration of Pope Francis? Preferably some royals from around the world.

Will Benedict XVI Pope Emeritus attend the ceremony?
    Will it be live telecast?

  19. mal_functiongeo says:

Pope Francis called for renewal of the Roman Catholic Church and attacked unfettered capitalism as “a new tyranny”, urging global leaders to fight poverty and growing inequality in the first major work he has authored alone as pontiff.

The 84-page document, known as an apostolic exhortation, amounted to an official platform for his papacy, building on views he has aired in sermons and remarks since he became the first non-European pontiff in 1,300 years in March.

In it, Francis went further than previous comments criticizing the global economic system, attacking the “idolatry of money” and beseeching politicians to guarantee all citizens “dignified work, education and healthcare”.

He also called on rich people to share their wealth. “Just as the commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’ sets a clear limit in order to safeguard the value of human life, today we also have to say ‘thou shalt not’ to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills,” Francis wrote in the document issued on Tuesday.

  20. davemc74656 says:

Pope Francis defended his comments on capitalism and the poor after being criticized by conservative pundits like Rush Limbaugh claimed the Pope was pushing a ‘Marxist’ ideology.

    Happy Birthday to Pope btw..

  21. kamikami says:

Every time this Pope says something the conservatives come out and say “No, you’re not interpreting him right. He’s not saying what he seems to be saying, but saying this crazy nonsense I’m going to spin to align him with my values.” It’s like with the Bible all over again.

Recently, the Pope stated in his “Evangelium Gaudium” that “As long as the problems of the poor are not radically resolved by rejecting the absolute autonomy of markets and financial speculation and by attacking the structural causes of inequality, no solution will be found for the world’s problems or, for that matter, to any problems.”

Capitalism has always been immoral and cannot be justified by the Bible or what we know of early Christianity. One need only read about the communal living and distribution of wealth among Christians in the book of Acts to see that.

So will the conservative Catholics reform their values on this issue or reject the Pope’s stance on it? You cannot have both.
    @mr haney – What’s he’s saying isn’t Socialist because it’s not conservative. It’s Socialist because it’s Socialist.

I have a pressing need to send a fax to His Holy Father Pope Francis at the Vatican.

I’ve tried several numbers that I’ve gotten from several sources but the fax calls are either not answered or are reported to be bad numbers by my fax software.

I’ll really appreciate a known good fax number!

  24. steve says:

This new Pope, Francis I, is really doing some stupid reforms to the one true faith, and it looks like I might be bailing out of my religion. Is Freemasonry a decent alternative to Catholicism – they seem so similar??

  25. Hayden says:

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – Pope Francis will hold a major ceremony next week in the chapel of a youth prison instead of in the Vatican or a Rome basilica where it is traditionallly held, the Vatican said on Thursday.
Francis will conduct the Holy Thursday afternoon service at the Casal del Marmo jail for minors on Rome’s outskirts. During the service, the pope will wash and kiss the feet of 12 teens to commemorate Jesus’s gesture of humility towards his apostles on the night before he died. Thoughts?

  26. Andres C says:

4 hrs ago The pope tweets. You read that right. Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, has a Twitter account and 7 million followers. What do you get if you follow the pope? Years off your time in purgatory, that’s what. The church is offering indulgences if you follow Pope Francis on Twitter during World Youth Day — or more specifically, you can earn indulgences by participating in World Youth Day events, which include being on Twitter. Indulgences reduce the time Catholics believe they have to spend in purgatory before they’re allowed to enter heaven. Senior Vatican officials warn that it’s not enough to simply follow the pope — you still have to be faithful, go to church and confess your sins. OK, but what if we retweet the Pope? That’s got to be worth at least a month or two. — By Nick Mangione [Source]

  27. Matthew David says:

Has Ryan, a Catholic been listening to his religious leader the Pope and has had an epiphany, and now dropping his trickle down in favor of progressive policies that actually help the middle class and poor?

In this budget deal there is a clause that allows Democrats to raise taxes by majority vote, that is according to the Heritage Foundation and other Republicans.

Perhaps Ryan has finally seen the error of his ways and took some guidance from Pope Francis?

Breaking the shackles of his Teabagger extremists wasn’t easy but he and Boehner finally did it. Will it last?

  28. Dr Dorian says:

Do you think the new Pope Francis could be that spiritual leader or will it be someone else or even no one?

  29. RichT says:

Pope Francis is restating Jesus’ teachings about wealth and the need for helping the poor and Christian Conservatives like Rush Limbaugh are running around with their fingers in their ears and their tongues out. Are they really too stupid to understand why you can’t reconcile the teachings of Ayn Rand with those of Jesus?

And how dare Mr. Limbaugh accuse Pope Francis of not understanding trickle down economics. Like most people that don’t have their heads shoved wholly up their own posterior, Pope Francis can see much better than Rush that trickle down economics is a ruse only accepted by the wealthy and the dumbest ten percent of poor conservative sheeple.
@Sokko: Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s. (Matthew 22)
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God. (Matthew 19)

So there’s two examples; anything else you want to debate, genius?
@expert and How would: WRONG!!! The vast majority of Nobel Prize-winning economists over the past thirty years have said that trickle-down economics doesn’t work. They point to the expansion of minimum wage jobs that are created and the fact that within a few years, unemployment always increase to levels before the policy was put into place. Again, if you didn’t have your head up your butt, you would see that.
Trickle-down economics is ABSOLUTELY against the teachings of Jesus. If you disagree you are: A) really too dumb to be allowed to be discussing such things, B) a mindless drone who just regurgitates everything his millionaire televangelist tells him, and C) definitely going straight to hell. Enjoy!

@ Deino: Really? You think you know more about Christ than the Pope? That would be like me saying that I know more about guns than Wayne La Pierre.

  30. Cole says:

Okay so I live in Pennsylvania, USA and I’d like to send a letter to Pope Francis in Rome, Italy. How many stamps do I need? Do I nred some sort of special stamp? Sorry, I must seem dumb, I’m only 13. Thanks!

I mean, think back to the assassinations of Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, the Archduke of Austria-Hungary, and others. What safety precautions have been set up since the 20th century, and is it still dangerous for people like Pope Francis to be riding in a car publicly?
Yeah, I forgot about John Lenon too. He wasn’t even a politician.

  33. airdogspace2 says:

On TV broadcast around the world today, the King and Queen of Belgium were presented to the Pope after his inauguration mass, and the King bowed deeply and the Queen curtsied. The Queen was dressed in white as her privilege being a Catholic Queen. But how humiliating for a reigning monarch, even if it is of a pi$sy country like Belgium, to have to bow to someone else. How did this make Belgians feel, seeing their monarch grovel to an Argentine Pope in front of the world’s cameras.

It just goes to show how Britain should retain Protestantism in its monarchy so they never have to bow to a Roman Pope.

  34. forahobby says:

To denote the selection of Pope Francis. What time exactly did the smoke appear in Rome time? What time exactly Pope Francis appeared on the balcony?

  35. white man says:

I certainly do. Jesus often praised the jobs creators for their hard work and for creating jobs, while telling the poor to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps or quit whining. This new Pope Francis, on the other hand, doesn’t even realize that people are poor because they chose to be poor. He speaks about the poor as if it matters what happens to them as a result of their own choice to be poor and not work harder. What can we do to persuade the Vatican to run this Marxist out of the Papacy?

  36. kewlflame14 says:

There has been recent news of Pope Francis expelling his bishop, Franz Peter of Germany on allegations that he used $43,000,000 to build a mansion for himself.

With this in addition to the Sexual Abuse of Children taking place within the Catholic Church system, why does the Western Media and Americans in general have such bad views of Islamic Groups such as the Taliban when much corruption, especially to children have been taking place within the Catholic faith for many years?

  37. Franklin Bluth says:

“Despite being a Muslim Imam and a member of a minority religion in a predominantly Christian nation, I pay close attention when Pope Francis, Christianity’s most influential leader, speaks. I find him inspiring.”

Do you find it as hilarious as I do that the Right Wingers are “outraged” and are defending Phil Robertson’s “Christianity” while attacking the Pope?

That is what they have been doing. They have called Pope Francis, the infallible leader of the world’s 1.8 billion Catholics, the largest Christian denomination in the world, a Marxist and a Communist and even worse! All because of his words about inclusion and not judging others, and the failed “trickle down” theories of the far Right. Yet these same folks defend what many call ignorant, racially skewed and hateful remarks by Phil Robertson?

Is this just another example of the Right Wings hypocrisy and odd version of Christianity?
As I stated, they are attacking a true Christian the Pope, is it because he speaks the truth and they can’t handle it?

I recently concocted a potato salad recipe in preperation for my family reunion. I usually try to make up something that kind of catches the attention of people roaming around the picnic tables, scanning the dozens of dishes. This year, in honor of the new Pope, I invented something I call “Pope Francis Potato Salad”.

It’s a mix of European and Latin American components for obvious reasons. Basically, it’s 6 lbs of homemade German potato salad, 1 lb of homemade guacamole, 2/3 lb of Jalapeño mustard, 1/2 lb of Russian dressing, 1/2 cup of crushed red pepper, 2 cups of diced dill pickles.

  40. stephen m says:

Pope Francis on Thursday urged “mercy” for homosexuals, divorced people and women who have abortions, saying the Catholic Church had to show understanding for the real conditions of people’s lives.

“We must find a new balance, otherwise the Church’s whole moral edifice risks collapsing like a house of cards,” he said in his first interview since taking over as the head of the Catholic Church.

    that those policies are evil?

Full question should read, ‘How do Catholic Republicans square their support for Republican fiscal policies when the Pope is telling them those policies are evil?’ but there wasn’t enough room. Here is the quote:

“While the income of a minority is increasing exponentially, that of the majority is crumbling. This imbalance results from ideologies which uphold the absolute autonomy of markets and financial speculation.”

“Widespread corruption and selfish fiscal evasion have taken on worldwide dimensions.”

“There is a need for financial reform along ethical lines that would produce in its turn an economic reform to benefit everyone.”

    -Pope Francis
@ El Tecolote: Nice try, but that doesn’t answer the question. You can say ‘I don’t know how I support Republican Fiscal policy’, though. That’s a valid answer.
@ bdwolf: Why do you take issue with the first quote? Yes, I know you think it’s untrue, but why?
@ prefer a horse!: Yeah, I mentioned that.

  42. whites are not the only racists says:

The Vatican’s site can be found at PraywiththePope and can be found at The Catholic Church is trying to connect with the youth by taking to the digital space. Kids are just not as inspired to practice their faith as they were in the last generation and Pope Francis is trying to change that by connecting with them in the most efficient way, via the internet.

  43. sick_mick_101 says:

Pope Francis the leader of the largest Christian denomination in the world, the Catholic Church and spiritual leader of the 1.6 billion Catholics has dared to tell the truth about today’s Conservative ideology. He has condemned the “Trickle Down” economic failed theories and policies of the Right. He correctly noted that never in history has it worked and it’s very principles are flawed. He pretty much endorsed the Obama policies of helping the poor and middle class rather than waiting for the so called benevolent wealthiest folks trickling down on the poor.

We already knew these policies don’t work. Remember that Republican slogan of cutting taxes to the “Job Givers”……how’d that work out…lol?

As a nation we have progressed to the point where we take care of our elderly and the poorest folks in society, our sick and disabled. Yet Republicans have never supported the Social Safety Net, not Social Security, not Medicare, not Food Stamps, not Health Care, not even things like unemployment security that folks pay into! All the things that have helped America become number one in the world. All were Democratic ideas.

Republicans have tried to cut every one of these programs, all the while cutting taxes from the Richest. Clearly not the teachings of Christianity as the Pope points out and as the Catholic Bishops Association pointed out when the Radical Right Ryan Budget came out, they said it had little to do with Christian teachings and more to do with Ayn Rand’s teachings.

What was the Pope doing when he told the truth about these less than Christian like policies to Americans? Did he want to upset our Right Wing Conservative “Christians” or CINO’s as some call them (Christians in name only). Is he right when he says these policies are bad for society? Is the Pope promoting Class Warfare as some Republicans say?
The largest job gains in last 30 years were under Clinton who raised taxes. In fact the largest gains in history occured under the 2 highest brackets in history under Eisenhower…90% rates and again under a 70% bracket in the 1960′s. Under Bush #2 we got a net job loss after his tax cuts…lol! Where are these mystical jobs after that tax break one of the largest in history?

Beheaded for Refusing to Convert to Islam: Pope Canonizes Hundreds of 15th-Century Martyrs

(TheBlaze/AP) — Pope Francis on Sunday bestowed sainthood upon hundreds of 15th-century martyrs beheaded for refusing to convert to Islam as part of his first canonization ceremony in a packed St. Peter’s Square.

The “Martyrs of Otranto” were 813 Italians who were slain in the southern Italian city in 1480 for defying demands by Turkish invaders who overran the citadel to renounce Christianity.
    And today:

-Bing/Google search “civil wars in the world” and determine where they are being fought; then research each civil war and determine who is fighting in them. The results are startling: 90% of them involve one combatant-religion — Islam. Muslims extremists fight in civil wars against Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Shamans, Copts, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Christiana, animists and Confucians and all other non-Muslim entities. They fight in China, Russia, Bosnia, Cyprus, Macedonia, Israel, Pakistan, India, Indonesia-Ambon & Halmarhera, Côte d’Ivoire, Kashmir, Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Kurdistan, Kirghizia, Nigeria, Philippines, Somalia, Turkey, Chechnya, Sudan, Yemen, Thailand, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Mali, Chad, Libya, Bangladesh and East Timor.

Haha about the bike. I’m cool with that, but you know across the city that will get very tiring
    Thanks for some great answers!

  49. evil chevy says:

Thanks to free enterprise and free-market capitalism, the world extreme poverty rate over the past 40 years has fallen from 25% to 5%. Pope Francis and his acolytes don’t seem to understand that free markets and capitalism drive countries out of poverty, not more big-government intervention. Central planning never improved the situation in the Soviet Union. Neither did the billions in foreign aid. It was actually those “evil” sweatshops by “exploiting companies” that helped lift these countries out of poverty. Those factories which seemed to have bad conditions were actually a great deal for the people living in those impoverished countries, and those nations which welcomed industry are now much better off than those which shunned it.

Countries with more economic freedom have a better quality of life. It’s so obvious that anyone can see it.

I don’t deny Pope Francis’s compassion. But why are people like him so ignorant when it comes to basic economics and history? The free market has uplifted more people out of poverty than any other force in human history. Marxism just drove more people into poverty, and his socialist drivel will do nothing to help anyone.

Pope Francis has garnered widespread international support for his attitudes towards the poor, atheists, abortions, and homosexuals.

But six months after he was installed, the Pope’s comments in a series of interviews are being denounced in scattered corners as “reckless” or even “borderline heretical.” One critic called him “the Joe Biden of our era.”

Why are Christian conservatives opposed to a Pope that actually displays the Christian virtues of love, kindness, and forgiveness?

Langone said he was worried the Pope’s comments about an “exclusionary” “culture of prosperity” that may make some of the rich “incapable of feeling compassion for the poor.”

What do you think of Rush Limbaugh denouncing him as a Marxist…………….?

Limbaugh was apparently angered by the Pope’s recent exhortation Evangelii Gaudium where the Pope blasted unfettered Capitalism and called for a stronger safety net and social justice for the needy. Limbaugh said Francis knows nothing about Capitalism and Socialism, and that the Pope is just preaching pure Marxism.

    Any thoughts?

  67. Scott W says:

The Vatican said that non-believers would burn in hell for an eternity simply because of the fact that they don’t worship god EVEN if they did nothing wrong. Pope Francis on the other hand said that outsiders can be redeemed if they do good deeds in their lifetime.

Who do you think is right, the Vatican or the Pope?
Because I’m leaning more towards Francis.

  68. Xbox Gamer says:

I found a catholic website that lets you buy a rosary then the Pope will bless it at his general audience and they ship it to you. BUT doesn’t having to buy a rosary to be blessed, many of them in the hundreds of dollars range, go against what Pope Francis is calling the church to be. To return to its more humble roots?

  69. skillz says:

Do you agree with his views on the Syrian Conflict.

It seems as if the Pope has made his position on the conflict pretty clear, saying that leaders should “Abandon the futile pursuit of a military solution”. This seems to echoe Pope John Paul II when he lashed out against the American Invasion of Iraq.

Also the Superior General of the Pope’s Jesuit order is quoted as saying “I cannot understand who gave the United States or France the right to act against a country in a way that will certainly increase the suffering of the citizens of that country, who, by the way, have already suffered beyond measure,”

Now, to those who would say “who care” the Pope’s opinion on the matter is important for a couple of reasons.

(i)He’s the leader of 1.2 billion people on the planet(this is a no brainer)
(ii)There is a significant Christian minority presence in Syria that is being targeted by certain elements in the rebel group

So do you agree or disagree with the Pope on this issue?

Fellow Catholics, and protestant brothers, what do you think of the Popes call to all Christians to serve others?

I find this to be one of the main points of the Gospel, that God–the Creator of all existence, the ineffable, the architect of the universe, humbled Himself to our lowly form, and came to us as an innocent defenseless child.

“But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:44

Would it be fair to say that he is doing a good job restoring the image of the Church………………….?

He seems to be a popular and charismatic pope who is garnering good will from all sectors, Catholic and Non Catholic, Christian and Non Christian, and even some of the harshest critics of the Church admit that many elements of what he says is positive.

This, plus his efforts to focus on poverty and structural inequality, his efforts to reform elements of the Church, as well as his simple lifestyle(living in a rented apartment) seems to have garnered positive attention with him being nominated person of the year by TIME magazine.

I mean his recent Christmas Eve mass also garnered a lot of media attention as well with people who normally aren’t interested in the Church listening in.

  82. blarg blarg says:

Would it be fair to say that he is much more popular that the previous Pope………….?

He certainly seems to be what people call “the people’s Pope” in terms of his style and a lot of his statements that, quite frankly catch people off guard

His statements for instance in Rio telling young people to “shake up” the Church, or his statements slamming Capitalism seems to have surprised quite a few people
@Jake….first of all the Vatican is not the wealthiest organization in the world. The White House and other countries have way more money than the Vatican. Secondly, he has put in place reforms in the Vatican particularly when it comes to its expenses. Third, he didn’t even want to become Pope and actually said the job was stifling.

Fourth, there is a reason why many liberation theology theologians like Francis, and why he is canonizing Archbishop Oscar Romero, the famous Bishop who had balls of steel to stand up to the El Salvadorean military in defence of the poor and was killed for it. So take that up your pipe and smoke it

  83. tefa_96 says:

The new Pope’s parents were from Turin, part of what was the Roman Empire in Italy, now he is the bishop of Rome, hence Saint Malachy’s predicted title of “Pertus Romanus” fits. Bring the fear! (evil laugh)
    “In persecutione extrema S.R.E. sedebit.
Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oves in multis tribulationibus, quibus transactis civitas septicollis diruetur, & judex tremendus judicabit populum suum. Finis.”

I predict a solid GOP year
Gains in South Dakota, West Virginia are near-certain.
Very likely gains in Arkansas and Montana with Tom Cotton and any of the Montana GOPers
Very solid chances in Louisiana and Alaska, so long as we nominate Mead Treadwell instead of Joe Miller
Finally, we should try at North Carolina, Colorado, New Mexico, Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, and my personal favorite, Minnesota(I would LOVE to see Al Franken lose), but these are all 50% or less for the GOP right now

So it looks like we have a very high chance of retaking the Senate.

-Team:I heard that Takahashi-Tran ended their partnership so…I guess there won’t be any pair skater(s) from Japan, which means Japan won’t be on the podium here. I guess Russia, USA, Canada would be the strongest candidates to be on the podium.

    NFL 2013-2014 record predictions?

My predictions for each team’s record:

AFC EAST: Pats will win again, but Dolphins will improve
New England Patriots: 12-4 Tom Brady will find ways to come over the Pats off season losses using Amendola and his TEs. Chandler Jones will show improvement.
Miami Dolphins: 9-7 Ryan Tannehill now has a full arsenal of weapons to throw to thanks to his front office. He has no reason not to do well.
Buffalo Bills: 4-12 EJ Manuel is a rookie with potential, but not all rookies are like RG3 Luck and Wilson. This team is improving but it will take a few more years to compete.
New York Jets: 3-13 I think Geno Smith will eventually become the Jet’s starting QB this season.

AFC NORTH: Hard division to predict.
Cincinnati Bengals: 10-6 Have a solid defense, and Dalton will improve with A.J. Green
Pittsburgh Steelers: 9-7 They’re aging and often injured, but will still be competitors.
Baltimore Ravens: 8-8 Offseason losses are too much to deal with. Although they had a good draft.
Cleveland Browns: 4-12 I really like Barkevious Mingo, but they’re offense can’t put up points.

AFC SOUTH: The top three teams in this division, have fairly easy schedules, the team who needs it doesn’t.
Houston Texans: 11-5 Like Deandre Hopkins, will balance their offense, and help Andre Johnson.
Indianapolis Colts: 9-7 They over performed a little last year, but will still have a solid season.
Tennessee Titans: 6-10 Locker will struggle, and CJ wont live up to his 2,000 yard prediction, but I like Kendall Wright.
Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-14 This team is in need of a better QB, they have Blackmon and MJD.

AFC WEST: The Broncos, one of the best if not the best teams in football have the easiest schedule, it doesn’t seem fair.
Denver Broncos: 14-2 Peyton has way to many offensive weapons not to do well.
Kansas City Chiefs: 7-9 Alex Smith and Bowe will lead a significant improvement for the Chiefs.
San Diego Chargers: 6-10 Rivers needs to be consistent, but I like Danario Alexander at wideout.
Oakland Raiders: 3-13 Too many holes to fill, they made a risky pick with D.J. Hayden too.

NFC EAST: This will be a fairly competitive division, and the Giants will bounce back and make the playoffs.
New York Giants: 10-6 Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, and Eli Manning will lead them to 9 or 10 wins.
Washington Redskins: 9-7 RG3 will make an impressive comeback
Dallas Cowboys: 7-9 They overpaid for Romo, but they have some talent on that team.
Philadelphia Eagles: 6-10 A hard team to predict, they have talent, but haven’t clicked.

NFC NORTH: This will again be one of the most competitive divisions in football, and there will probably be to playoff teams coming from it.
Green Bay Packers: 12-4 Aaron Rogers is too good with too many weapons. (Cobb, Nelson, Jones)
Minnesota Vikings: 10-6 Peterson will lead the league in rushing again, not 2,000 yds though. Ponder will surprise with new weapons Jennings and Patterson, and returning TE Rudolph.
Chicago Bears: 9-7 Have a good D, but Cutler needs to stay consistent and spread out his targets, to recievers other than Brandon Marshall. I like Alshon Jeffrey.
Detroit Lions: 6-10 Calvin Johnson will continue to tear apart secondaries, but Matthew Stafford needs to minimize his mistakes.

NFC SOUTH: The Falcons will win this division fairly easily, but the Saints will take a step forward.
Atlanta Falcons: 12-4 With Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Roddy White, and Tony Gonzalez, their passing offense will be great again. They made a good pick with Desmond Trufant in the draft.
New Orleans Saints: 9-7 The Saints will have a bounce back year as Sean Payton returns, and they have Drew Brees.
Carolina Panthers: 7-9 They have some holes to fill, but they have talent. Cam Newton will play more like he did in the second half of 2012.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 7-9 Josh Freeman will prove some people wrong, with the help of Vincent Jackson. Darrelle Revis will also improve their secondary.

NFC WEST: The division with two of the strongest teams in football will provide a lot of excitement.
Seattle Seahawks: 12-4 The Seahawks will be contenders to go deep into the playoffs with all of the talent on their roster. If Harvin, along with Lynch and Wilson stay healthy, then their offense will be a force to be reckoned with.
San Francisco 49ers: 12-4 Their defense is one of the NFLs best, but without Michael Crabtree they’re offense needs a new leading receiver.
Saint Louis Rams: 7-9 Sam Bradford lost his top receiving threats, but gained Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey. I’m not convinced these rookies will be enough for Bradford to make the Rams contenders.
Arizona Cardinals: 4-12 With Carson Palmer throwing to Larry Fitzgerald, that is a slight upgrade, but they don’t have enough talent.

BRAZIL vs ENGLAND: great game, i just see brazil with home turf going far 2:2 (3:2) penalties
    SPAIN vs MEXICO: 2:1

Typical of a Heat fan from 2010-2015 to claim I have a bad prediction. I bet your prediction is Heat 4-0 every team in the playoffs and go 82-0.
    *2010-2014 :)
Lol, I literally laughed at how you picked good teams but it just seems so random how your threw them all out there. Bulls are good but not title contenders. I cant remember the last time a team won a title with a pg who was the first scoring option. No love for the Pacers? Only team in the East that could take the Heat to 7 games and they will be even better this year. Everyone has been saying year after the year that the Spurs are done. After they lost in 2012 to the Thunder everyone said “Too old”. Well look at what happened this past year. They are title contenders until Tim Duncan retires in 2015.
If I went into the 2011 season saying Derrick Rose would be the mvp you think I was crazy. Or if I went into the 2005 season saying Steve Nash would win back to back mvps.
Yes Eddy I totally agree with you. Every year there are things that a low percentage of people predict and yet they happen. That is one reason why I love the nba. There are always surprises every year. I could be way off come February. Maybe Chris Paul tears his ACL and misses the whole season killing the Clippers title hopes. Maybe Westbrook does not come back as explosive as he once was. Maybe Ginobili has a fountain of youth season similar to Tim Duncan this last year.

san Antonio spurs vs Miami heat…if ginobili doesn’t retire. it will be a repeat.

I still don’t see any team capable of beating the spurs in the west not even okc with westbrook and Durant..they no longer have harden and we never really got to see how good they could be so I may be wrong.

In the east…the only challenge I see for the heat are the bulls and pacers..assuming they can resign david west and danny granger (if he’s a free agent) the bulls wont be able to keep nate robinson. I think this bulls team will look just like the bulls team that got 4-1′d in 2011 though… so really I don’t see anyone getting in miamis way.

All this is assuming Dwight and chris paul stay put btw if they join forces they could be a good team.

I think the heat will three-peat next season as well. thoughts?

  126. Agent 47 says:

I think there will be some changes in the driver lineups for next season, pay drivers seem to be more present outside the top teams. So, here is my predictions:

Red Bull (Renault) – Sebastian Vettel & Daniel Ricciardo
Ferrari (Ferrari)- Fernando Alonso & Kimi Raikkonen
Mercedes (Mercedes) – Lewis Hamilton & Nico Rosberg
Lotus (Renault) – Romain Grosjean & Nico Hulkenberg or Felipe Massa
McLaren (Mercedes) – Jenson Button & Sergio Perez
Force India (Mercedes) – Adrian Sutil & Paul di Resta
Sauber (Ferrari) – Esteban Gutierrez & Sergey Sirotkin
Toro Rosso (Renault) – Jean-Eric Vergne & Daniil Kyvat
Williams (Mercedes) – Pastor Maldonado & Valtteri Bottas
Marussia (Ferrari) – Jules Bianchi & Kevin Magnussen or Max Chilton
Caterham (Renault) – Charles Pic & Heikki Kovalainen or Giedo van der Garde

Do you agree or disagree, and why?
I think di Resta’s future at Force India does look uncertain, but for me I think Maldonado will spend another year at Williams, and I can’t see anyone other than Maldonado in the Force India next season if they dump di Resta.
By the way Richard, I meant by having either Magnussen or Chilton in the Marussia for example. I didnt mean having three drivers, I meant either one of the two.

There are 2 events psychics are invited to TV shows every year – Halloween and New Year’s. So now, every time I flip the channels, I see local psychics giving their (predictable) predictions which are of course, very vague.

So without further ado, I will give my own predictions, which I think are much more specific than what those TV psychics give. And at the end of the 2014, I’ll see how many predictions of mine came true, and those of the ‘professional psychics’.

    - An athlete will marry a popular actress
    - A mayor will get involved in a sex scandal
    - Many lives will be lost when an overloaded boat capsizes during summer
    - Another bus will get involved in an accident in Commonwealth avenue where 10 or more people will get killed
    - A new epidemic will hit the country leaving hundreds infected and tens dead
    - A veteran actor will die of an illness incurred recently
    - Hundreds will die when a typhoon causes floods and landslides in august or september
    - The relations between Philippines and China will hit an all time high in tensions
    - A senator will suffer a life-threatening illness that may prove fatal before the year ends
    - Napoles will escape jail and reside in a European country where there is no extradition treaty with the Philippines. She will return in 2016 and be absolved of all charges.

    Any predictions of your own?

jandy. calm down i already gave them the 1 seed why does it matter that they win 5 more games? and what i mean by the yankees beating them. I’m saying anything can happen its yankees vs red sox. and this isn’t the 2013 yankees were talking about. if they turn out like i think they will it would most likely go to 5 games.
sorry i meant to have the rays win 87 games. or it could go to another tiebreaker game.

Some people speak of ‘economic inequality’ as if this is a problem.

I guess maybe they’d feel better if a doctor and a janitor both made the same amount of money, drove the same car and lived in the same type of home.

  141. Xbox360king says:

A lot of people are making all sorts of claims about how Obama is destroying or is fixing the economy. Who is willing to make a bet on it?

I’m willing to bet that at the end of Obama’s first term in office (January 20, 2013), the economy under Obama will be at least as well as the economy at the end of Reagan’s first term in office. Precisely, here are the measures:
    1) By January 2013, the unemployment under Obama will be no worse than it was under Reagan on January 20, 1985 which was 7.3% as can be verified by the Bureau of Labor Statistics Data , AND
    2) Some time between January 20, 2012 and January 20, 2013, the Dow Jones will be at an all time high. This is predicting a little better than Reagan did since the Dow reach an all time high for him more than one year prior to his second term and I’m saying less than one year for Obama. FYI for Reagan it was on January 6, 1984 where the Dow reached 1,286.64. It did not go higher than that again until after he started his second term.

Here’s what happens if you win or lose.

If you are pro-Obama and you lose this bet, then you have to post the following on Yahoo Answers:

Subject: “Will my fellow liberals acknowledge that we made a mistake by electing Obama?”
Additional Details: “My deal fellow liberals, will you join me in acknowledging that we have made a mistake by electing this mulsim, non-American left-wing socialist to office? It is amazing how blind we have been, like sheep following our master who hypnotized us with words that we did not understand. It is time we all come to acknowledge that Obama’s socialist policies are a failure and that the Republicans have been right all along. Please join me in re-uniting America once again.”

If you are anti-Obama and you lose this bet, then you have to post the following on Yahoo Answers:

Subject: “Will my fellow conservatives acknowledge that Obama has saved our economy?”
Additional Details: “My deal fellow conservatives, will you join me in acknowledging that we have been misjudging President Obama, and the man has actually saved our economy? It could not be more blatantly obvious that Obama inherited one of the worst economies since the Great Depression thanks to our right-wing Republicans who spent decades of deregulating and ignoring the middle class. And despite the economic horror he started with, he was able to turn it around better than any president in American history. It is time we all come to acknowledge that Obama is indeed The Chose One, and all my rants of him being a muslim, non-American, socialist were completely wrong. I apologize to him and the Democratic party, to whom I hereby give my loyal support.”

    Greetings from the United States.

This has been a topic recently in a lot of economic publications. Being Greek (and Irish), this is also of great interest to me. I know things are difficult right now, but what are people in Greece saying?

My impression is that Greece has a very corrupt political system. While IMF austerity is contracting GDP a lot now, the economic future of the country through debt reduction, liberalization of labor markets, foreign investment from China and other countries, etc appear to indicate that in 3 or 4 years, Greece will be in actually a pretty strong spot. Do my fellow Greeks agree with me, or are there other things being discussed in the Greek news which we’re missing here in America?

Also… what exactly is the deal with Cyprus? I know it’s a separate country from Greece, but economically and politically speaking, it seems much different and less corrupt. Am I correct in my assumption? For someone looking to leave the United States (our economic future here is looking dim), would Cyprus be a good place to go?

Efharisto for all your answers. I appreciate it

PS– The trolls on these boards are funny, but why do you guys hate Greece so much? Really– I don’t understand all this animosity between Balkan people. It seems unnecessary.

Are there any contemporary economic theories dealing with what happens when further economic growth isn’t possible, and how to deal with it?

I.E. What happens when there’s less oil, lumber, metals, fish, crops, arable land, food, etc… What happens in a long-term global economic decline? How does the economy function?
